Hoedspruit Elephant Rehabilitation and Development (HERD) is South Africa’s first dedicated Elephant Orphanage, established in 2021 following a 24-year journey in caring for elephants that have been displaced or orphaned due to human-elephant conflict.
The HERD Orphanage was built in 2019 in response to a growing number of young orphaned elephant calves that need a place of rehabilitation and more importantly, an existing herd that will accept them unconditionally.
Objectives
The Flux team was tasked with working on a website a little bit different from what we had done in the past, and quite a technically demanding project. The Hoedspruit Elephant Rehabilitation and Development (HERD) Trust required a long-overdue revamped digital presence that would inspire users to donate to this worthy cause and that would allow them to shop, adopt and donate through integration with the various third-party transactional providers required. This included an eCommerce platform and donation management system, all of which would require custom, on-brand styling that would be visually consistent with the main website.
Our Results
An inspiring, on-brand and transaction-ready website that allows users to shop, adopt and donate through seamless integration with third-party platforms. The client has seen a marked increase in all website performance metrics and a consistently healthy stream of donations and purchases taking place since the website’s launch.
